The Government of Maldives has strongly condemned the deadly drone attack at UAE’s Abu Dhabi International Airport by Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group.
The Maldives government released an official statement stating that it strongly condemned the drone attacks aimed towards Abu Dhabi International Airport on 17 January 2022, resulting in loss of lives and injuries to several civilians and damages to public infrastructure.
The statement also read that the attack was a cowardly act of terrorism targeting innocent civilians and civilian infrastructure which violates international law and imperils the security and safety of civilians and travelers alike.
The Government of Maldives reaffirmed its solidarity with the Government of the UAE against those threatening its security and civilians and further commended the role of the UAE in bringing harmony, peace, and security to the entire region. The Maldives also assured its full commitment to the fight against terrorism and assured that the Maldives would continue to work closely with the international community in eliminating terrorism.
