Maldives and India, on Thursday, held the first meeting of the Joint Working Group on Counterterrorism, Countering Violent Extremism, and De-Radicalization.
In the meeting, they discussed strengthening security capacity and stressed the importance of de-radicalization and countering violent forms of extremism.
Both Countries have condemned all forms of terrorism including cross-border terrorism and have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
They also stressed the need for joint actions against all terrorist networks and highlighted the need for global cooperation to take immediate action to ensure neither country is used for terrorist activities.
India appreciated the clear-eyed stance taken by the Maldivian Government to counter such threats and the solid steps taken by the island nation.
