Maldives Post Limited has created a community online shop on the e-Tukuri shopping platform.
Aminath Shauna, Minister of Environment, Climate Change, and Technology, unveiled the community online shop at a special event on Friday.
The community online shop allows local companies and producers to directly promote and sell their products to clients throughout the Maldives via the e-Tukuri platform.
Maldives Post said that it has commenced delivery services for the community online store in all atolls and will seek to expand the service to all inhabited islands, as well as assisting companies in the atolls in marketing and selling their services through the online shop.
Furthermore, Maldives Post stated that the COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the need of having such a platform in order to assist local companies with the opportunity to overcome financial challenges.
It added that the online shop will provide full support to small and medium-sized firms (SMEs), as well as co-operatives and entrepreneurs. It went on to say that the community online shop is a critical step in its efforts to grow domestic business in the atolls.
