The Maldives received a shipment of COVID-19 vaccination from AstraZeneca Singapore last week, according to reports.
The actual number of doses in the shipment has yet to be disclosed. The government originally stated that 500,000 doses of the vaccine would be delivered to the Maldives this month.
The government purchased a total of 1,000,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, 300,000 from Serum Institute of India and 700,000 from AstraZeneca Singapore.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced on Monday that the administration has secured enough vaccine doses to immunize those who have yet to take the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccines.
He also stated that his administration intends to conduct a mass vaccination campaign next month with the goal of vaccinating 90% of the eligible population by the end of August.
