The Maldives attracted around 56,000 tourists in June, a 13% decline from May, according to data supplied by Maldives Immigration.
According to June figures, the country saw 56,166 tourist visitors, with an average daily arrival of 1,872, a decrease from 64,613 in May. The highest number of arrivals in a single day was 2,607, with the lowest being 1,416.
Russia led the way in tourist arrivals in June, with 18,727 visitors, while Saudi Arabia came in second with 6,309 visitors. The remaining top five tourist arrival nationalities were the United States (3,843 tourists), Germany (2,709 tourists), and Spain (2,308 tourists). Moreover, the top ten tourism markets include Portugal, South Africa, Poland, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates.
Currently, Maldives has 47,482 beds in 731 operating tourism establishments. The island nation initially set a target of one million visitor arrivals this year but increased it to 1.5 million after launching its COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
