Maldives has recorded over 298,000 tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2021.
Records published by the Tourism Ministry shows 92,103 tourist arrivals in January, followed by 96,882 arrivals in February. In March, Maldives recorded over 100,000 arrivals for the first time in a single month since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, with 109,585 arrivals recorded during the month taking the total tally of the year to 298,750.
India occupies the number one sport as the largest source market for Maldives with 23.4% of all arrivals this year. Moreover, Russia is second on the list with 21.3%.
Maldives is expected to see considerable growth this year after the devastating effects of the pandemic last year which forced Maldives to close its borders for 3 months.
