Nearly 200,000 Indian tourists have arrived in the Maldives this year, the tourism ministry revealed.
According to the most recent tourism ministry data, as of October 5, 204,530 Indian travelers had visited the Maldives this year, making India the largest source market for visitors to the Maldives, accounting for 23% of total tourist arrivals.
Furthermore, as of October 5, the Maldives has had a total of 890,363 visitor arrivals in 2021. This represents a 120 percent growth over the same period last year, but a 30 percent reduction over the same period in 2019.
With 174,095 visitor arrivals, Russia is the Maldives’ second largest source market this year, accounting for 19.2 percent of all visitor arrivals in 2021. Germany has achieved the third highest number of arrivals, with 55,707 visitors.
The Maldives now has an average of 3,203 tourist arrivals each day, with visitors staying an average of 9 days.
