The number of tourists who visited the Maldives between the beginning of 2021 and the first week of September exceeded 788,000, the tourism ministry has revealed.
As of September 8, the tourism ministry reported that 788,846 tourists have visited the Maldives in 2021.
The Maldives received 92,103 tourists in January of this year, followed by 96,882 in February, 109,585 in March, 91,200 in April, 64,613 in May, 56,166 in June, 101,818 in July, and 143,599 in August.
In addition, the Maldives saw 32,880 tourist arrivals in the first eight days of September, according to tourism ministry data.
India has regained its position as the top source market, accounting for more than 20% of total arrivals, while Russia has moved to the second position, with Germany taking the third spot.
