The Maldives will begin distributing COVID-19 booster doses to people above the age of 50, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) said.
The HPA began administering COVID-19 booster doses in October, using Pfizer vaccine as the booster dosage.
Previously, the booster dose was only given to frontline health professionals, individuals over the age of 60, and people with a compromised immune system.
According to the HPA, the booster dose will be administered to everyone over the age of 50 from November 20.
The HPA also stated that the booster dose will be available without an appointment at ADK Hospital and Hulhumale Hospital.
The HPA noted that the booster dose will be administered to eligible people at ADK Hospital and Hulhumale Hospital from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., while it will be administered at Villimale Hospital from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
According to the most recent COVID-19 immunization report supplied by the HPA, 395,195 people had gotten the first dose, 361,391 people had received the second dose, and 5,390 had received a booster dose.
