The Maldives would begin providing COVID-19 booster doses to all people in December, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced on Saturday.
With the bulk of the Maldives’ population fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the nation has already begun offering booster doses to those over the age of 50.
President Solih stated in a tweet that the booster shot will be administered to frontline personnel in the healthcare, tourism, and airport industries by next week, and that immunization efforts will be expanded to cover all residents in December.
“I urge those eligible to get their booster shots as soon as possible,” the president added.
According to the most recent vaccination data, 9,058 people in the Maldives have gotten the booster dose.
