The Maldives intends to deliver a third dosage of COVID-19 vaccination, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced today.
According to the HPA, the Technical Advisory Group has recommended that fully vaccinated persons at a higher risk of catching the virus, as well as frontline health professionals, receive a COVID-19 booster shot.
In addition, the HPA noted that the conclusion was made after a comprehensive assessment of all past studies. It also said that the Pfizer vaccine will be given as a booster dose.
The booster shot will be given to fully vaccinated people 6 months after their second dosage, according to the HPA. It was also said that the third dosage will be given to those over the age of 60 and those with a weakened immune system.
