Maldives has officially launched a ‘Floating City’ project worth a billion US Dollars.
In a special event joined by Tourism Minister Abdulla Mausoom, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed and Dutch Dockland’s CEO, the government unveiled futuristic ‘Floating City’ project.
The project is contracted to a Dutch based company called Dutch Dockland. The project was first launched during the administration of Former President Mohamed Nasheed.
The project is set to commence this September and a 200 hectares lagoon nearby Aarah was allocated for the development.
Approximately, 5,000 Housing units along with 2 resorts and a yacht marina will be constructed as part of the project.
Government stated that the 5,000 housing units will be made available to middle income families.
