On Saturday, the Maldives received nearly 6,000 tourists, the biggest number of tourist visits in a single day since the reopening of the borders.
According to official data from the tourism ministry, 6,083 tourists visited the Maldives yesterday.
Since the beginning of August, daily average visitor numbers have exceeded 4,000, except for more than 5,000 visits on two days this month.
The number of tourist arrivals in the country has increased significantly as travel restrictions have been relaxed. This includes lengthening the period of the PCR test done by travelers from 72 to 96 hours prior to arrival, as well as enabling tourists to stay in guesthouses on residential islands.
Furthermore, the Maldives received the most tourist arrivals from Russia and India.
According to data from the tourism ministry, there are currently 157 operational resorts and 460 guesthouses on 60 islands.
