Maldives has welcomed the first tourist of the new year 2022. UK resident Ms. Georgina Canning and her partner arrived for their holiday in the Maldives this morning.
Georgina and her partner were welcomed by senior officials from the Tourism Ministry and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), along with representatives from Maldives Immigration and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
As the first visitor of 2022, Georgina was gifted a five-night holiday with a full board meal plan for two persons at Adaaran Prestige Vadoo. She also received additional gifts from MMPRC, Tourism Ministry, Maldives Immigration and MACL, as well as Dhiraagu and Koel Eyewear.
The couple said they were delighted and honored to be the first tourists to visit the Maldives in the year 2022. They had previously visited the Maldives around the same time, spending 12 days at Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives, and plan to visit again next year.
Maldives was awarded the World’s Leading Destination at the World Travel Awards in 2021 for the second year in a row. Moreover, the nation surpassed the 1.3 million visitors mark on December 27th, which is more than the initial projections.
Maldives also celebrates Golden Jubilee – 50 years to its tourism industry with many special events to be hosted throughout the year.
