The Maldivian Aviation Academy, a joint venture between Island Aviation and the Maldives National University (MNU), has officially opened its doors on Tuesday.
Vice President Faisal Naseem inaugurated the new flight academy at MNU in a ceremony attended by Transport Minister Aishath Nahula and top Island Aviation and MNU officials.
The aviation school will be administered at Gan International Airport by a joint venture between Island Aviation and MNU, but it will be managed by a top aviation academy from the Czech Republic.
Applications for the flying academy were also opened today.
During the occasion, Island Aviation’s Managing Director Mohamed Mihad said that the academy will be run in Addu City and that enrolment is currently available.
He stated that students from the Asian Academy of Aeronautics will be given priority because their courses were disrupted for a variety of reasons.
According to Mihad, the establishment of the Maldivian Aviation Academy would result in a more educated and experienced personnel, which will help Island Aviation realize its goals.
