Male’ City Council has awarded China’s Hunan Construction Engineering Corporation Limited the contract to renovate the Boduthkurufaanu Magu, a main road in the capital city that connects different parts of the city.
The road was previously asphalted and opened to the public in 2018, but some sections have become damaged over time. Hunan Construction Engineering Corporation, which previously built the highway connecting Male’ and Hulhumale, will repair a total of 32 damaged areas on Boduthkurufaanu Magu. The damaged asphalt will be removed and replaced, and utility pipes beneath the road will be checked.
The project costs MVR 1.5 million and is expected to take 30 days to complete. The Chinese firm has also donated 3,000 smart street lights equipped with cameras and sensors for use in Male’.
