Maldives Police Service have detained a 33-year-old man from a southern island on charges of sexually abusing his 13-year-old stepdaughter.
According to a police official, a complaint was filed on April 12th, alleging that a minor girl had been sexually assaulted on an island under the South Police Division’s jurisdiction. Following an investigation, the suspect was taken into custody on April 13th.
The court has ordered the suspect to be held in detention for 30 days, allowing for further investigation into the case.
