The Noonu Manadhoo Council has once again expressed their concerns regarding the unsolved murder of Naeema Moosa, who was found dead on the island on April 7. The council President, Abdul Rahman Sabeeh, stated that Manadhoo Police met with the Northern Regional Police Commander and Head of Forensic Police on Monday to discuss the case.
Sabeeh confirmed that the police have assured them they will find the murderer, but the length of time it has taken to make progress in the case is a major concern. The Council President explained that they have been living in fear since Ramadan and it is difficult to accept the case has taken this long.
The police discovered multiple stab wounds on the 62-year-old victim when they broke into her residence after she was reported missing. Naeema had lived alone.
Forensic police are still active on the island and are collecting DNA from the residents, including locals and foreign migrants. However, police have not revealed if there are any suspects in the investigation yet.
