Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced that its internal elections will be postponed.
According to the statement released by MDP, the internal elections have been postponed due to the injuries sustained by Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed as a result of the May 6 terror attack.
Further, the statement highlighted that holding internal elections at this time is not the best option.
MDP also stated that all necessary election preparations are still in progress, and that a new election date will be announced within the next ten days.
There are 455 seats up for grabs in the MDP internal elections, with over 93,000 MDP members registered to vote.
