Medianet has responded to the backlash it has received over the public screening of FIFA World Cup 2022.
Medianet has been in turmoil after rumours broke out that the company is threatening legal action against those who organize public screenings of the FIFA World Cup 2022 without prior permission from Medianet.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, the company explained that public screenings will be allowed as long as it is not sponsored or charged by the subleasers.
According to Medianet, FIFA guidelines state that commercial public screening of the World Cup is not allowed and they are strictly required to adhere to these regulations. Moreover, the company assured that no legal action will be taken against those who organize public screenings as long as they comply with these regulations.
Medianet is the official licensed broadcaster in the Maldives for the FIFA World Cup 2022.
