The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has approved the use of Moderna and Janssen COVID-19 vaccines in Maldives.
The MFDA noted that the two vaccines were approved considering the country’s current situation, and that both vaccines were recommended for limited use in emergency situations and for those over the age of 18.
Furthermore, the MFDA assured the vaccines were approved after following all the necessary procedures, and with technical advice from the National Pharmaceutical Board.
Both the Moderna and Janssen COVID-19 vaccines are on the World Health Organization’s emergency use list. The Janssen vaccine is currently used in 42 nations, whereas the Modern vaccine is being administered in 49.
Maldives has now approved the emergency use of six COVID-19 vaccines.
