The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) announced that the deadline for paying taxes and other fees had been pushed back to June 10 due to the curfew and movement restrictions in most parts of the country.
The taxation authority also stated that counter services will be unavailable until June 8 and that everyone is encouraged to use their online services, such as their web portal VaaruPay, during this time.
The President’s Office had previously announced that all government offices in the Greater Malé Region would be closed until June 8, as a preventive measure to control the spread of COVID-19.
There have been 61,844 COVID-19 cases reported in the country, with 36,862 recoveries. The total number of fatalities has increased to 155, with the Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirming 5 additional deaths on Friday.
