Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has published the Income Tax, GST, and BPT defaulters list along with a list of those who failed to file tax statements.
MIRA published the list in accordance with the policy on disclosure of names of non-filers and non-payers of tax.
MIRA’s official confirmed on Monday that the published list includes only the names of those who owe MVR 500,000 and above. The 256 non-filers and 138 tax defaulters list also includes some big businesses in the Maldives. Moreover, the official added that MIRA is owed MVR 192 million in taxes without the fines.
As such, the list includes companies that run resorts, guesthouses, travel agencies, cafe’s and restaurants as well as hardware and construction companies. The list also includes India’s GMR company who previously managed Velana International Airport.
