Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has recorded an income of MVR 1.28 billion in May.
The income generated in May was 63% higher compared to the income generated in May last year as per the statistics published by MIRA. It was also 12.8% higher than the projected income for May. MIRA attributed the increased income in May to the increase in tourist arrivals compared to last year.
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) contributed 64.7% of MIRA’s income for May, with MVR 829.4 million as per the statistics. Meanwhile, MVR 105.8 million was collected as Income Tax, contributing 8.3% of the total. The authority also collected MVR 96.5 million in Green Tax, MVR 60.6 million in airport development fees, and MVR 59.8 million in Departure Tax.
