The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) held a virtual webinar to market the Maldives as a safe retreat for Thai tourists, which was attended by 95 travel trade representatives from Thailand.
The webinar was hosted as Thailand prepares to reopen its borders to international leisure tourism gradually. This webinar is the second in a series planned by MMPRC to strengthen the Maldives brand in major markets under the Connect with Maldives – Your Safe Haven campaign.
According to MMPRC, the webinar aims to strengthen the relationship between the Maldivian tourism industry and the Thailand market, as well as to provide the most up-to-date destination information, travel guidelines, and promote the Maldives as one of the world’s leading safest tourist destinations.
During the exclusive webinar, MMPRC Managing Director Thoyyib Mohamed addressed the Thailand Travel Trade. He remarked on the Maldives’ tourism success story amidst the pandemic, the crucial tie between the Thailand market and the Maldives, and the planned celebrations and excitement for the Maldivian tourism industry’s Golden Jubilee Year.
Ambassador of the Maldives to Thailand Mohamed Jinah participated in the webinar and discussed the foreign policies and travel corridors that have been created in order to reopen borders.
The Maldives has seen consistent rise in tourist arrivals from the Southeast Asian region over the years, making it a viable market with excellent flight connectivity to the Maldives. The Maldives attracted around 87,636 tourists from Southeast Asia in 2019.
