Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has opened the exhibition “Thasveeru: Maldives Through Art” at Hulhumale’ Central Park.
The exhibition was launched with a special ceremony attended by MMPRC Managing Director Thoyyib Mohamed, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Managing Director Suhail Ahmed, and officials from MMPRC and HDC.
During the event, MMPRC MD Thoyyib handed over a token to HDC MD Suhail reflecting the handover of the exhibition stands. The stands, which were developed by MMPRC and turned over to HDC, will provide a venue for artists to show their work in Central Park in the future.
Following the handover, participants had a tour of the exhibition, which was followed by MMPRC-organized children’s activities for this event. The exhibition will be supervised by HDC and will continue through the end of the year.
MMPRC stated its goal in building an exhibition section with the necessary stands at Central Park was to provide a platform for artists to present their work, while also supporting its attempt to raise the reputation of Hulhumale’ as a tourist destination by providing tourist attractions.
The exhibition features 12 winning pieces from the “Thasveeru: Maldives Through Art” competition, which was held in partnership with the Maldivian Artist Community (MAC) from July 15 to August 15, 2021.
