The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has established a Maritime Logistics Base in Hulhumale to consolidate their on-sea logistical activities under one roof.
The logistics base, which was formally named Kalaaseenu Koshi and was inaugurated yesterday in a special ceremony, was built on ground where the MNDF already conducts other activities.
This marine logistics facility has a small boat repair and maintenance centre, the Coast Guard Second Squadron, the Coast Guard Diving Unit, and the boat operating centre for the transport service.
Engineering, hull repair and maintenance, communications and navigation services will be performed at the Maritime Logistics Base, according to the Maldives military.
The MNDF stated that the new base will boost the military’s operational capability as well as expand and expedite its services to civilians.
The MNDF did all of the work on the building, its interior, and the development of the base.
