Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has warned sea travelers to be wary of the weather forecast for the next five days.
Captains of sea vessels should take all precautionary steps, according to MNDF, since Maldives Meteorological Service warned that high wind speeds of up to 55 miles per hour, rough seas, and heavy rain are possible.
The crews of sea vessels must search for all protective equipment, such as life jackets, and small vessels should avoid travelling at night or in heavy rain.
Large ships carrying containers must also adhere to the rules and regulations. All vessels must inform the relevant authorities prior to departure, and in the event of an emergency, call the coastguard’s toll-free number 191.
