A 22-year-old Maldivian military officer died while training in India on Saturday, the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has said.
According to the MNDF, the officer died while participating in a training exercise at India’s National Defense Academy in Pune. The cause of his death was not disclosed.
The MNDF did not release the deceased’s name, although he was identified as Private Mohamed Sultan Ibrahim, 22, by local media.
Authorities are attempting to send the deceased’s body to the Maldives, according to the armed forces.
