Maldives National University (MNU)’s admin staff have on Sunday protested for wage revisions following the government’s decision to raise teacher’s wages.
The salary increment for teachers and principals were met with criticism by lecturers who also demanded wage increments following the presidential address on 1st May. The Finance Ministry has since announced that lecturer’s wages will also be revised under the national pay framework.
However, the government has not yet announced any wage increments for admin staff in the universities, leading to concerns from admin staff in MNU and IUM.
Deans of different faculties as well as other managerial staff at MNU joined the protest in solidarity with the admin staff.
