Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan today tweeted that the ministry has received 1,176 loan applications for higher education.
Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan further stated that these applications will be evaluated with honesty, without any political leanings or bias, and according to the set policy.
The opportunity for higher education included 770 slots for PhD students, 471 slots for currently studying students and 299 slots for new students.
Students studying majors currently available in local universities will not be eligible for loans for studying abroad, however, exceptions will be made for MBS and Pilot majors.
More additions were made to the list of countries eligible for full-funding including, SAARC countries, China, Phillipines, Thailand, Malaysia, Ukraine, Russia, Kirgizstan, Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Italy, UAE, Malta, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Qatar, South Africa, Egypt, Fiji and Mauritius.
