MP of North Hithadhoo constituency, Mohamed Aslam has been elected as the new Parliamentary Group (PG) Leader of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) after defeating the current PG Leader Ali Azim.
In the election held today at MDP’s office, MP Aslam won 40 votes, while MP Ali Azim managed to win just 25 votes out of 65.
As for the Vice PG Leader position, MP of Alifushi constituency, Mohamed Rasheed Hussain (Bigey) won the election by 49 votes.
Meanwhile, MP of Central Fuvahmulaku constituency, Hussain Mohamed Didi won the Secretary General position without any competition.
