Hussain Waheed, People’s Majlis representative for Komandoo constituency, died on Tuesday at the age of 53 following a year-long battle with cancer.
On Tuesday night, he died while being treated for cancer at ADK Hospital in Male’ City.
Hussain Waheed, who also served a five-year term in the 17th People’s Majlis, was being treated at ADK after his condition worsened in the last two weeks. He had spent many days in Dubai for cancer treatment at the beginning of the year before returning to the Majlis on March 29.
Hussain, a native of Foakaidhoo, was first elected to the People’s Majlis in 2009 and was re-elected in 2019.
He was a renowned businessman in addition to being a member of parliament. He was the owner of Timber House, a major provider of timber products, and United Food Suppliers, a grocery supplier.
