MPL bus services will be temporarily suspended from Wednesday onwards due to tighter travel restrictions in the Greater Male’ Area as a result of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases.
According to the Greater Male’ Transport Link, the services will be suspended until further notice and will be restored at a later date to be announced.
The suspension of services coincides with the extension of Male’ City’s curfew from 16:00 to 8:00, as well as other restrictions such as the requirement of a mandatory permit to go outside during non-business hours.
Each household receives two residential permits, with the morning and afternoon curfew hours split into two periods. The first will be released from 8:00 to 12:00, while the second will be issued from 12:00 to 16:00. Travel between Male’ and Hulhumale’ will remain restricted at all times.
