Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that several job opportunities have been opened for Maldivians to work in the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adam Azim said that employees are needed for the ferries and terminals as well as for administrative work of RTL. He highlighted that 17 ferries will be used in Zone 1 and that a minimum of five workers will be assigned for each vessel, which will consist of two captains and three crewmen. He said that a total of 100 workers will be hired for Zone 1 and all of them will be Maldivians.
Furthermore, CEO Azim said MTCC has hired 100 attendants for the recently commenced RTL bus service in the Greater Male’ Region and will continue to train and hire more attendants and bus drivers as part of efforts to expand the bus services to the atolls. He noted that 40 bus drivers have been trained and hired so far and job applications have been opened to hire 35 more bus drivers.
Furthermore, Azim noted MTCC has hired women for many of the jobs opened by the company. Azim added that more jobs will be opened once MTCC introduces the mini-bus services in Male’ City.
MTCC is currently working to procure vessels as well as train and hire workers to expand the RTL service. MTCC has so far established the RTL high-speed ferry service in two atolls of Zone 1 of the National Public Ferry Network (NPFN), which consists of a total of 40 inhabited islands in Haa Alifu Atoll, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, and Shaviyani Atoll.
