CEO of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Adam Azim has reviewed the progress of the design and construction of 17 high-speed ferries under the “Integrated National Public Ferry Network Project.”
The speed ferries are being designed and built by Gulf Craft Maldives under a contract signed with MTCC on April 11, 2021.
According to MTCC, the newly designed ferries would be able to go three times as fast as the current ferries and would be able to carry 50 passengers. Furthermore, the high-speed ferries will be designed to make it easy for all passengers, including those with disabilities, to board the vessel.
With the groundbreaking of the first ferry terminal at Ha. Hoarafushi, MTCC has already begun the building of ferry terminals for the integrated national public ferry network.
MTCC stated that the integrated national public ferry network will provide their customers with inexpensive, convenient, and long-term passenger ferry service.
