Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced land reclamation for the Alifushi Airport project.
Alifushi constituency MP, Mohamed Rasheed Hussain, inaugurated the project at a ceremony held to celebrate the commencement of the project. MTCC CEO, Adam Azim, and senior officials and Alifushi Council President Adam Imran joined the ceremony held in Alifushi on Tuesday.
MTCC was contracted to do the land reclamation for the Alifushi Airport Project by the Planning Ministry in September 2021.
Scope of works for the project include reclamation of 5.50 hectare, a revetment of 2,871m, a 480m groyne, runway, apron, fire pad, and development of roads in addition to installation of airfield lights, harbour lights and installation of fire extinguishing equipments. MTCC will also carry out installation of a 665m security fence as well.
The project is valued at MVR 451.61 million, to be completed within 750 days.
