The shore protection project in Fainu, Raa Atoll, was completed on December 12, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has said.
The project was granted to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure for MVR 8.9 million.
The project involved the backfilling of 8,100 cubic meters of sand and the installation of a 250-meter geobag revetment.
Following the conclusion of the project, as part of the company’s social duty, MTCC carried out many operations, including cleaning different portions of the island, cleaning roads, and levelling roads with sand filling.
MTCC is presently working on 62 projects around the country. This comprises eight shore protection projects, and the company has completed seven shore protection projects in the last three years.
