The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has introduced a new policy to provide free transportation services for higher education students, aiming to ease their commute and reduce financial burdens.
Under this initiative, college and university students can avail of free bus and ferry services by simply presenting their student identification cards. This decision aligns with MTCC’s commitment to offering accessible and convenient transportation options for the public.
Currently, MTCC already offers complimentary transit services to specific groups, including individuals aged 65 and older, children under three years of age, and individuals with disabilities, who can use the service by presenting a card issued by the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA). Furthermore, students wearing their school uniforms are already eligible for free transit.
As part of its efforts to improve transportation services, MTCC recently expanded its operations to provide 24-hour bus services between Male’ City and Hulhumale’. The company also manages minibus services in Male’ and Villimale’, along with bus services in Addu City and Fuvahmulah City. Furthermore, MTCC plans to commence bus services in Dhidhdhoo next week, further enhancing accessibility across the Maldives.
