Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) reported that work on the shore protection project at Buruni, Thaa Atoll, is proceeding as planned.
The planning ministry awarded the shore protection project to MTCC on September 24, with a 240-day completion schedule.
Dredging operations for sand required for beach infill for the shore protection project began today, the company said.
The project entails beach filling with 21,181.80 cubic metres of sand, building a 220-meter revetment, and building a 369-meter breakwater.
The Buruni shore protection project is worth MVR 28.87 million and is supported by the Green Fund.
