Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has halted ferry operations between Male and Villimale due to severe weather.
The MTCC stated that, while the ferry service is suspended until the weather improves, one vessel would be available for emergency scenarios.
In addition, the Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a yellow notice for the whole country, with average wind speeds predicted to range from 28 to 35 miles per hour and gusts reaching up to 55 miles per hour.
Authorities have warned seafarers to travel with caution since the seas are likely to be turbulent with high gusts.
