Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been granted coastline protection construction projects in Kurendhoo, Lhaviyani Atoll, and Milandhoo, Shaviyani Atoll, totaling more than MVR 81 million.
On Monday, the contracts were signed by MTCC CEO Adam Azim and Planning Ministry Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Hameed.
Kurendhoo’s coastal protection project includes 91,000 cubic metres of beach infill, a 361-meter breakwater, and an 822-meter revetment. It will cost MVR 44.92 million and will be finished in 365 days.
Meanwhile, the Milandhoo coastline protection project comprises the building of a 954m revetment and a 115m groyne. The project is projected to cost MVR 36.69 million and will take 200 days to complete.
