Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated it hopes to complete the development of Faresmaathodaa Airport by November 11 this year.
MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim said in his interview to PSM that the project is well underway, with ground preparation for runway base layers currently ongoing. Azim said the project will be completed in 8 months and it will be the fastest airport development project to be completed by MTCC.
A total of 19.9 hectares of land have been reclaimed for the airport, with an 888-metre rock boulder revetment protecting the shoreline of the reclaimed area.
The scope of project includes construction of a 1,200-metre runway, taxiway, apron and service roads. The project is worth MVR 145 million.
