The Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded the shore protection project in Kolhufushi, Meemu Atoll, to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The project was awarded to MTCC for MVR 22.9 million with a 365-day completion period.
The project will comprise the building of a 137-meter revetment on the island’s northern shore, as well as a 382-meter revetment on the island’s southern shore.
In addition, two breakwaters will be created on the island, as well as 9,683cbm of beach infill at the island’s eroding location.
The planning ministry awarded the project to MTCC on November 25, along with three additional coast protection projects in Baa Atoll’s Kendhoo and Dharavandhoo, and Addu City’s Hithadhoo.
