Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has decided to limit the purchase of its Taza water due to the high demand as Maldives braces for its hottest month of the year.
MWSC stated that it will now allow the purchase of just five cases of five-liter Taza water per shop. The company said they had to impose this restriction due to rising demand from atolls. However, they will remove the restriction tomorrow.
MWSC has been struggling to keep up with the rising demand and has caused several delays in delivery this month.
The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) had stated the month of April will be the hottest month of the year. As this year’s April also coincided with the month of Ramadan, the shortage of supply in various products may not come as a surprise for most.
