The newly developed COVID-19 Facility in Hulhumale’ by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been handed over to the government.
HDC was contracted to develop a COVID-19 Facility in preparation for pandemic situations last year. The new COVID-19 facility was established at the Orange Hiyaa building, which HDC previously used as a distribution center.
An official from HDC said the new facility was handed over to the government on December 5, 2021. However, Hulhumale’ Hospital requested to bring further changes which the corporation is currently undertaking and will be done by March this year.
The facility is a medical center equipped to handle a pandemic situation, with oxygen pipes directly laid to patient beds. The Health Ministry stated that the facility would be managed and operated under the supervision of Hulhumale’ Hospital.
