A new powerhouse and administrative office at Sh. Foakaidhoo has been officially inaugurated tonight.
The new powerhouse and administrative building were inaugurated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in a special ceremony held at the island tonight. Speaker Mohamed Nasheed and Fenaka’s Managing Director Ahmed Saeed were also present at the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih thanked Fenaka’s Managing Director Ahmed Saeed and the hardworking employees of Fenaka. He also noted that it is one of his pledges to provide essential services to all islands in the Maldives and Fenaka is trying to fulfill that pledge.
The total capacity of the new powerhouse at Foakaidhoo has been increased to 1.5 Mw. Moreover, 3000 meters of cables were laid to renew the distribution network along with a transformer to increase the voltage.
According to Fenaka, this is a modern powerhouse with enough facilities to provide service for 50 years. Fenaka has doubled the capacity of powerhouses in the atolls within just three years.
