The Health Protection Agency has added nine new islands to the list of those under Covid monitoring status, bringing the total to 21.
The number of new Covid cases found on residential islands has been on the rise for the previous two months, but after a modest fall, it is on the rise again.
While the number of Covid cases on residential islands continues to rise, the HPA claimed it has received no support from the islands in containing the outbreaks.
The islands placed on monitoring status include B. Eydhafushi, Hdh. Hanimaadhoo, B. Dhonfanu, N. Landhoo, N. Miladhoo, Lh. Hinnavaru, Th. Vilufushi, Th. Hirilandhoo, and Gdh. Rathafandhoo, according to the HPA.
According to official data, the overall number of Covid cases discovered has climbed to 93,064, with 1,933 active cases and 15 being treated in a Covid facility.
Furthermore, 218 new cases of Covid have been found across the country in the previous 24 hours, with 188 cases detected just on residential islands.
