With over 144,000 visitors, November was the busiest month for tourist arrivals in the Maldives thus far this year.
According to tourism ministry figures, 144,725 tourists visited the Maldives in November, a 4.9 percent rise over the 137,921 tourist visits reported in November 2020. It is also up 1.8 percent from the 142,066 tourist arrivals registered in October 2021.
According to data, 92,103 visitor arrivals were registered in January, 96,882 in February, and 109,585 in March of this year. In addition, 91,200 tourists visited in April, 64,613 in May, 56,166 in June, 101,818 in July, 143,599 in August, and 114,896 in September.
The Maldives is now registering an average of 4,772 tourists each day, with more than 1.2 million tourists visiting the country so far in 2021.
India had the highest number of tourist arrivals, with 261,164 arrivals, accounting for 23% of total visitors. Russia is second with 205,246 tourist visits, while Germany is third with 83,817 visits.
