The number of islands under monitoring status for COVID-19 has decreased to 11, the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) revealed on Sunday.
There were 23 islands under monitoring status at the beginning of September. By the middle of the month, 22 islands were still under monitoring mechanisms.
But the number of islands subject to COVID-19 monitoring measures has reduced substantially during the last two weeks. The islands that are still subject to monitoring mechanisms are those that were added to the list between August 20 and September 19.
K. Gaafaru was placed under monitoring measures in this respect on August 20. On August 28, Addu City’s Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, and Feydhoo were placed under surveillance mechanisms, followed by Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo on September 4.
K. Gulhi, GA. Gemanafushi, GA. Maarandhoo, GA. Villingilli, and Th. Dhiyamingili are among the other islands under monitoring status this month.
According to the most recent HPA data, the Maldives registered 126 new cases of COVID-19 in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 84,290.
